It is cheaper with a railcard, GWR just choose not to mention it.

You can use railcards, but the info is very indirectly buried so most people wouldn't realise, and would buy more expensive day return tickets.

It is very good value if used a lot in a week (or the fortnight version), although most of the trains are 33-36 years old and without catering. Also majority of the stations served have nowhere to buy drinks and snacks so need to plan your refreshments

So, the company who actually run the trains choose not to mention it yet another *company clearly state Railcards are accepted and show the discount - and a clear map of area covered. Funny that!

Wonder how many customers the Rover would have induced to travel on GWR trains if people were aware of the Railcard discount?

Yes, I aware that the trains are clapped out with the 158’s often having failed air con and the Turbos having a horrible box that drops cold air on anyone stupid enough to sit under it.

I have just checked the Freedom of Severn Solent Rover (3 days in 7). https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/tick...ns/freedom-of-severn-solent-3-in-7-day-rover/ tells me that it is cheaper with a Railcard.

https://www.gwr.com/your-tickets/choosing-your-ticket/rangers-and-rovers makes no mention of a Railcard discount.

How can this be or I am missing something?
If you continue with the gwr site as far as attempting to purchase this Rover, then the Railcard option appears.

Deliberate concealment or lack of attention to detail? Who knows, but let's hope this nonsense disappears with franchising.
