Hi,
Can anyone tell me what regular routes Freightliner operate to from Birmingham please?
Any thoughts on them as an employer, I'm going for final assessments and interviews with them next week. Really impressed by them and the process so far.

You won't need to know that for the interview, so don't stress to much

Hello,
I can't answer the first bit, as I'm Freightliner Crewe based but I have no doubt you'll find the job varied and enjoyable. Freightliner are a very good employer in my experience and I'd say long term job prospects are excellent, but that's only my opinion; and things will only get busier if/when HS2 really starts.

I'm relatively new to the Railway and left a very good TOC to try Freight and I'm glad I joined Freightliner; and at no point have I had any regrets.

Freightliner need people to come, learn; and stay for a career, not use them as a stepping stone to Passenger, I don't blame for folk doing that, but Freight is interesting and varied and as your route card gets bigger, no two days are the same - or nights, of course. It is a lifestyle thing; and if your lifestyle can cope with the variation then it really is great fun. Intermodal is a good choice if you want the security of a roster and to help plan life outside work.

So good luck, you've done the hardest bit, do your research and show how much you want to work for Freightliner.

Thanks, that's great to hear and just what I want to know. I'm in it for the long term so it should be a good match

Great info, thanks. I’m in the same boat as many others here with the DMI/MMI looming. I currently work for a TOC so intend to use any inference that one might wish to use them as a stepping stone to my advantage in that I’m wanting to move in to freight specifically from passenger trains. I can see why it would or could be used in this way as one obviously gets some great perks working for a TOC.

I must say it’s refreshing to hear all ‘reviews’ from serving Freightliner staff I’ve read or heard so far to be so positive. You just don’t get that in many industries or companies these days. I’ve personally never had an issue with the TOC I currently work for, but know that staffin general aren’t overly happy with them as an employer.
