Hey RailUK forums,
Just wondering if any of you know any Gateline recruitment Agencies located in London, Preferably South London?
I have 8 months experience and have worked with one before (--OnTrak Recruitment--.. I Dont recommend any one work for them as The manager is horrible to work with) and would like to know if there is anymore and their contact details please?

Thank you in advance.

JJ.

Stuff them, I'd apply straight to the train company, don't bother with agencies which mistreat you and offer no travel benefits. SWT recruit gateline staff regularly. :P

x2, as 185 says keep an eye out on SWT's website, they recruit for gateline on a regular basis and seem to have an unending requirement for gateline assistants at Waterloo.

Thank you for your Reply 185, Well i currently have a job within Sainsburys (Downgrade i know) and plan to work there until i can apply for a full time Rail job but majority of the time when i look there is nothing for gateline, or ticket office for southern, Overground or SWT (Just checked SWT).

I just wanted a weekend Job, possibly covershifts on Sundays since i work during the week, to earn a bit extra weekly. And that only until another Full time Railway Job opputunity arises.

So, with that said does anyone know any?

It wouldn't do you any harm to contact SWT directly and ask what might become available in the near future. Recruitment's number is 0845 408 1322 and their e-mail is [email protected], if you explain your situation and that you are looking for gateline work in the London area that's either part or full time and i'm sure you wouldn't have to wait long to get a reply from them. Good luck! :)

Monty, a big thank you. That sounds like a plan. I update my CV and write up a covering letter tonight to email them tomorrow. Any other things i should do?

Thank you for your kindness.

not gateline, but First Rail Support are seeking more rail replacement co-ordinators - details here

They handle rail replacement bus / coach services for FCC and FGW, so central London to Bedford / Peterborough and out towards Reading is possible.

a fairly high proportion of the work is weekends, it's casual basis, so you can say "no thanks" if offered a shift that doesn't fit your other work or is somewhere difficult for you to get to / from. It's quite good pay for casual work, although there's a bit of 'homework' before and after and of course travel time which you don't get paid extra for.

There are other companies who do this sort of thing for other TOCs.

I think Southern handle FCC replacement services if lines south of the river are affected - not quite sure who handles these at the moment. In the past, I have seen the Go-Ahead London bus companies advertise for casual staff to handle these.
