Hi I booked a ticket for grand Central from Northallerton to York tomorrow, for a return.
However I've not been given a reservation. Are reservations still compulsory on Grand Central?

No, they were the last domestic, daytime TOC with that policy. Unlike LNER they've actually changed their timetable data to match their position!

The train could be fully reserved; I am unsure if GC have an unreserved coach.

Some trains are extremely busy now and Sundays are a very popular day for this route.

I saw a GC service displayed on the departure screen at Kings Cross the other day and it stated "Reservations Compulsory" at the bottom of the screen.

Just got on the 1025. Coach B is indeed unreserved and there's plenty of seats so I'm happy

In my fairly recent experience of GC, coach B will be nearly empty and the rest of the train will be absolutely rammed full of reservations. I quite like the two tables at the very rear of coach B personally.

I travelled from Bradford to Pontefract with GC around the end of July. They did check my ticket, admittedly flexible, but did not ask to see my reservation. Plus there were no announcements at Bradford advising reservations only.
