Are BRFACE fonts freely avilable and if they are, where can one get hold of them?

Does anyone know if they can be added in operating systems like Android or iOS?

The recent South Western Railway but one tablet ime consultation Excel spreadsheets use BRFACE3. Some might argue it woukd be better if they'd provided PDFs rather than Excel spreadsheets, as Adobe PDF reader is free, Excel isn't but as I have Excel and even Google Sheets, it's not a problem for me.

Excel Online is free.

If it's Rail Alphabet they're using, there are a number of freely-available digitised versions of it in OK-ish quality, but nothing 'definitive' since it is a pre-digital typeface.

New Rail Alphabet is a faithful digital re-master in a variety of new weights but is quite expensive to obtain.

BRFACE3 is a symbol font containing the various symbols you might need for timetables and publicity material, like the BR logo, trolley service symbol, restaurant service symbol, etc.

Most, if not all, TOC Marketing Departments should have a copy, but getting it outside the industry is harder as I believe it's licensed, as per Rail Alphabet.

My copy of Rail Alphabet (BritishRailNormal and BritishRailLight) has those in place of the punctuation.

ISTR in design circles that BRFACE3 can't be exported to PDF due to restrictions on its use. Strikes me that it'd simply be easier for the operator to have new set of icons commissioned and made into a font that they can do what they like with!

Thanks for replies. It doesn't seem professional to use a font in a consultation document that the public don't have access too.

I found a message on the Adobe forums about a designer creating a PDF with the font and having issues.

Not very open in these days of open data and sharing. Still that doesn't surprise me, given some of the practices some companies still operate. There again, could someone extract an embedded font from a PDF and reuse it elsewhere? I don't know. Never tried.

It should just be a TTF file with nothing else attached to it
It definitely tried to download a virus with the file, that norton blocked. May have been the website rather than the file.

Only if you click the large green Download button inside the adverts that also feature a large countdown timer.

The real download button is grey and near the centre of the page.

So basically you want something for free that others have to pay for?

Indeed. Unfortunately, misleading adverts are the only source of revenue for mass download sites such as that. :/

WeTransfer is much better
