GMPTE bus and train day tickets

just a quick question, are the 5.50 system 1 bus and train tickets for greater Manchester valid for use between Handforth (a GM station) and Burnage (a GM station) by changing at Wilmslow (a [non GM station)?

No. Tickets such as this are only valid for travel wholly within the area where they are valid. Thus, they would not be valid to leave and re-enter the GMPTE area.

When it comes to PTE or other products such as this, the permitted route is not relevant. It is a multi modal ticket valid within a set area only, and cannot be used outside the defined area for any reason. For example the West Yorkshire Day Rover is not valid to travel from Denby Dale to Darton via Barnsley, even though this would be a permitted route for a normal single ticket between these two points.

I have just noticed the error in this - Handforth is not a GMPTE station. The last station on that line which is a GMPTE station is Cheadle Hulme.

What may have caused confusion is that GMPTE tickets are sometimes valid beyond the GMPTE boundary - and the bus tickets *are* valid in Handforth.

Yes, and the GMPTE branded Wayfarer is valid well outside the GMPTE ticketing area!

The System One bus and train boundaries are slightly different. The £5.50 bus and train tickets are valid on buses to Handforth and Wilmslow (even though these are in Cheshire not GM. They are not however valid on the train to (or through) these stations.

The System One day tickets are also valid to Adlington (Lancs), Poynton, Disley and New Mills by bus but not on the train.
