Hi all,

Heading to london next Saturday and was wondering if anyone could recommend a spot for some good tube pictures?

I have quite a large selection already and have already been places like amersham, earls court, royal oak, Stratford. But if anyone has some suggestions from their own travels I'd love to hear them.

I'd also like to know of some bridges that people may have taken some shots from so I can try out my zoom, ideally not to far from the tube station or a bus route (don't want to lose too much of the day travelling around on foot to places)

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm there are a lot of good places to go and see in London. Some of my favourite would be:

Bank (W&C) and Waterloo (W&C)
Angel (Southbound) for the extra wide platform.
Queens Park for trains entering and leaving the carriage shed. Includes passenger trains beyond Queens Park towards Harrow & Wealdstone.
Clapham Common and Clapham North for the narrow island platform
Southbound Victoria Line at Finsbury Park for the humped platform.
Golders Green with its center track and classic looking station
Morden Station. There is a good vantage point in the car park standing above the tunnel entrance.
Bank (Central) for the curves on the station.
Four track section between Hammersmith and Acton Town
Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo) for the unusual layout where it is possible to view trains travelling in the opposite direction.
London Road Depot
The northern heights project. Abandoned station at Highgate, the expansive East Finchley, Highgate Depot.
Harrow on the Hill. Good road bridge near the station.
Highfield Road Bridge, Northwood.

I know you won't do all that in a day but hopefully you might get to pick a few items from it. Have a look at my LUL gallery which has over 500 images. All the locations mentioned above are in this gallery.

In front of a computer
Ealing Common - District & Piccadilly Lines with sidings and the depot in sight from the platforms if you want to try with your zoom
One stop from there is Ealing Broadway with Central and District lines and if you want to play with your zoom go onto the National Rail platform 3 and photgraph across the tracks tp get both District and Piccadilly line trains together.

From the public bridges, such as the one near Harrow on the Hill, no problems at all.

From the stations, if you're going to be more than a few minutes at any one location you'll need a permit - otherwise you can claim the "passing through rule" although some staff seem not to know about it despite it regularly appearing in the traffic circulars!

The only issue I've ever had was at Woodford for the Sandite. The staff member and I had a disagreement on where exactly I was standing...which was in a public area but he seemed not to think so.
