Since there isn’t a thread for all GA requests, I have started one.

Which GE diagrams today are 755s? I saw the 22:00 Ipswich off Liverpool St and the 15:30 both 755s formed on Friday so was wondering if those same diagrams are running today. GA really need to join know your train since I’m finding these so elusive.

There is no normal service today. Just using whatever Stadlers stuck from Ipswich southwards to operate an hourly shuttle to Liverpool Street. The 22:00 off Liv St weekdays is formed by the 19:32 ex-Nrw then goes ECS to Crown Point.

Does that ECS from Ipswich form of an 8 car joining to the 17:48 off Sheringham to make an 11? That’s what Rtt seems to suggest.

I think that just runs with 2 bimodes.

Those aren’t “diagrams”, they are just singular workings. A diagram consists of a number of workings and shows exactly what a singular unit does from start of day e.g leaving depot through to the end of the day. 1 unit = 1 diagram.

For example, at Reading our 30 Class 387s operate on diagrams numbered RG701 -RG730. 24 of those diagrams have passenger workings, the remaining 6 diagrams are spare / maintenance.

Unless the 755s you saw were covering for another class due to unavailability, then those workings you saw will be part of the 755 diagrams so “theoretically” will always produce a 755.

I would suggest asking on one of the TOPS request threads when you have a day out in the area; most of the time responses are fairly quick.

One thing to be aware of is that even in undisrupted conditions, Greater Anglia do make a rather high number of swaps during teh day, which means different units than expected can turn up on some diagrams - if that happens, it's worth asking for the target unit to be checked again.

As for the apparent 11 car working - one of the units will have been a late swap; the systems sometimes don't properly update and show both units to be on the diagram and RTT picks up on that as it feeds from the same source; the displays on the stations will also show the erroneous formation length!

Thanks but I’m on the 18:00 ex Norwich now and it is booked as a 745 and was advertised at Ipswich as 12 coaches so I was very surprised when an 11 car 755 4/4/3 turned up. GA seem to do a lot of random swaps. It seems like luck of the draw.

Hardly surprising this afternoon though is it?

Fatality between Diss & Norwich involving a track machine blocked the line for over two hours. Trains are all over the shop so anything goes for the rest of the day.
