Wow!!! Thats long...
Thanks for that.

It seems that when the advertise a job at say ilford...those positions are commonly filled by people already in the system. Then they continue to process the new ones for whatever positions next become available.

My husband also applied back in July 2012, and his choice of ipswich was gone very quickly. He has passed everything but the Driver Manager Interview which is the last stage and is now told this will not be until May/June. So 12 months in total it will be! :)

Good luck to you both I hope you both pass the assessment.

Try to relax the day before the assessment and go to bed early, before leaving for the assessment take a banana with you to refresh your mind and have a cup of coffee if you make it to the Concentration Test:)

The Structured Interview is the one to watch out for. 5 tough written questions in half an hour then an hours "grilling" by the assessor. You cannot mess up at all during the verbal part. I got the feeling that the assessor was constantly trying to catch me out, and if I said the wrong sort of thing even once, I'd be out.

Hi, I applied for Trainee DD position back in early Dec '12 and have just received an invitation to the 1st stage selection process in Stratford on 13th Feb.

Anyone else going?

Good luck to you, mate. Here's hoping everything goes smoothly. :D

Well, that was an unexpectedly stressful process! Still, onwards and upwards - just received date for my Structured Interview so any helpful tips from you wise & wonderful people out there would be greatly appreciated.

So, structured interviews were held yesterday for the GA Trainee DD position and it was as nerve-racking as has been described elsewhere on this forum. An hour's wait for the interview followed by another hour's grilling. No matter how well you think it's gone there's always the worry that you simply haven't given strong enough or suitable answers (that's how I felt anyway). Then on the way home I get a phone call to say I had passed the S.I. (cue ecstatic girlie yelp ). Furthermore, as if by magic, a letter arrives today (just hours after the S.I.) advising the date for my manager's interview. Feeling pretty good this morning I can tell you.

Anybody else here get the green light?

Tips for the Manager's interview are now being gladly & gratefully accepted.

Hi Dave1987, the positions are for either Ilford (my preference) or Southend - either would do me :D

Ilford eh you will certainly be busy there! You will sign loads! The DM interview is a lot lot easier than the SI interview. Just do your research on the company.

Good luck!

I also felt it was nerve-wracking because it felt like the assessor was constantly trying to catch me out. My first SI was 5 years ago and it still makes me nervous just thinking back to how bad it was during that hours grilling.

So, just a final update on the GA Depot Driver selection process: Attended my Manager's Interview on Wednesday and, it must be said, I was feeling more than a little nervous, probably more so than during the S.I. Anyway, things seemed to go OK although the questions were a little bit different to what I had been expecting (very little about the company itself). At the end they advised that they hoped to contact all candidates within 5 days with their decision. Then on Thursday came the call! Had I? Hadn't I? Shaky hands and wobbly knees were the order of the day. Then came the words " ...pleased to advise that ...". That's all I heard over the screaming inside my head. Music to my ears.

So, pending the outcome of my medical on Wednesday (which I should pass with flying colours) a letter containing GA's offer of employment should be winging its way to me pronto! To say I am rather pleased is a little bit of an understatement. This is a life changing opportunity for me and one which I intend to grab with both hands.

May I take this opportunity to thank everyone on this forum who has posted helpful and sincere advice across various threads, all of which has been extremely helpful. I owe you all a huge debt. I now cannot wait to get started on the rest of my working life.

Cheers everyone!!

This is wonderful news! Congratulations! I don't think my husband would have got this far without this forum either!

Do you have any insight into the type of questions to expet in the managers interview? My husband will have his in May or June and there is such differing information on that interview particularly.

It would be really appreciated...
