GWR class 150/2 question

Was on a GWR class 150/2 and noticed this semi-circular housing under one of the seats.

Anyone know what is under it? Just curious....

Just one of the covers over the coolant system / heater pipes. Most of the time they would have just been a square box, but they were replaced with this semi circular design a number of years ago when they were reseated to 2+2 - either by Wessex or FGW.

Was that to reduce the risk of minor injury?
