Does anyone know anything about GWR Par depot? specifically is it regarded as a nice place to work? do they have nights ? what's the diagrams like down there ? generally is it a nice place to live? any info would be welcome as I am thinking of applying for a drivers job down there I was originally going for Penzance but it's a bit far from my family and Par is that much closer.
Many thanks.

Nice close knit depot. To my knowledge no nights and not too many unsociable hours. Good mix now of mainline and branch work , routes are Penzance to Plymouth plus Gunnislake Looe Newquay Falmouth and St Ives. Traction would be 80x and 150 (HSTs currently but these are expected to be gone by December.). Its a nice part of Cornwall , far nicer than the far west in my opinion, but that depends on what you like.

Thanks that's kind of what I was lead to believe.

Did you apply in the end? ... have you heard anything?

I submitted on 21st March and am yet to hear back other than an email confirming the application is "with the hiring manager"

In terms of avoiding unsociable hours as much as possible, Par is the place to be at GWR Driver wise I would say, maybe with the exception of Cardiff!

Earliest book on I think seems to vary between timetables of between 0330 - 0500, latest finish before midnight I believe!

I was at Par just a couple of weeks ago for some front end turns (I'm new). I don't know much about the hours but it was a very nice stop off. Mess room was very old and nostalgic. Lots of parking and the area looked very rural/peaceful too. Haven't heard anything negative spoken about it, all looked very nice :)

Afternoon Folks,

Not for par, but ive got a qualified train driver interview for gwr in the next few weeks for a talent pool. Anyone shed any light on kind of interview questions, is it rule based or generic interview questions? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers
