Hi,

I will travel to London with my wife in 2 weeks, 1st december. I will arrive at Luton Airport at 23:30 or later, and I have rented a flat in Islington. I need help to find a way to go from Airport to the house rented, or near, at that late time. As much cheap as it can be. The easiest way would be taking a taxi, but I have seen airport is 45 km so that option would be very very expensive.

I don't mind if I have to walk to the flat for 15 or 30 minutes.

Don't know if this is the best board to ask, if there is a better one, please, point me in the right direction.

Can anybody help me?

The first step (for the train route) is to get the Luton Dart to Luton Airport Parkway; then (depending on what time you land and get to the train station), either the 00:13, 00:43 or 01:43 trains can get you to London.

Depending on precisely where you need in Islington, the final step might change. Fortunately, as a Friday night, the night tube is running, so the Victoria and Piccadilly lines will be running.

If it's outside the distance you want to walk, a taxi could be a good choice, especially if you have lots of luggage.

Thank you so much. The appartment is in the corner between Dalmeny Rd and Anson Rd, very near Dalmeny Park, 10 minutes walking from Tufnel Park tube Station.

Alright, I think a good route there is
- DART (automatic train by the airport to get to the main line)
- Either the 00:43 or 01:43 train to Kentish town, which is (according to Google Maps) a 14 minute walk from there.

For the two of you (Without any discounts) that would cost £33.40

Hola.

Which airline are you using? If it's WizzAir you can expect a delay, and many of the other budget airlines are also not uncommonly delayed at this time of the evening.

So, the time of travel will very much vary depending on the extent of delay, whether you have checked bags to collect, and any queues at passport control.

Google maps is good for this:

There is a good chance you would make the 0043 Thameslink train which would take you to Kentish Town, which is a short walk from your destination.

The best way to pay for the journey would be a contactless bank card (don't forget to tap out at Kentish Town)

Thank you so much guys. You have saved my travel. We fly with Ryanair, and we have to wait for one bag to collect. Arrival time of plane is 23:30. Doesn't matter, if there is a delay, we can take the 00:43 or 01:43 and 14 minutes walk with one bag is very easy for us, we walk 1 hour everyday in our normal life.

Contactless fare from Luton Airport Parkway to Kentish Town would be £11.80

As for the Dart, they do not make it easy to find out information, but searching around the website, they do say:
If you don’t have a combined ticket through to Luton Airport, you’ll need to buy a separate ticket for the DART. One way adult tickets cost £4.90.
You can use contactless payments if you’re travelling between London St Pancras International and Luton Airport Parkway. Other stations on this route don’t currently support contactless payments.
The Luton DART also offers contactless payments between Luton Airport and Luton Airport Parkway if you haven’t pre-purchased a combined ticket.
This would put the combined cost at £16.70

A super off peak single from the Airport itself is also £16.70:

The super off peak single is only valid at weekends, i.e. from 0001 on Saturday, so if a speedy exit from the plane is achieved, that would put the through ticket up to £21.50.

I've only used Luton Airport once, and I arrived there and took the bus to Hitchin, so have no experience of using the Dart.
I've only used Luton Airport Parkway once, and that was not to use the airport!

Someone with more experience of this journey than me, might be better placed to offer more detailed advice in this area.
