the mrs has landed herself a job with vtec at leeds and starts next week , on looking at her shifts she finishes after the last train to doncaster .. she finishes at 23:10 . parking at the station is limited at leeds and its £15 a day to park there ..

so basically I'm asking for any ideas ? at present I've seen that she could drive to hors forth and park there for free and catch the 23.30ish and drive from there

any help is greatly appreciated

If 2310 is guaranteed, then the 2313 Hudds stopper? No idea about parking but a bit nearer the motorway.

Is that £15 per day to park in central Leeds as the average daily cost of a parking season ticket or £15 per day walk-up rate?

Alternatively look at other nearby stations that still have service and park there.

Perhaps micklefield, morley, castleford for example

In the worst case, she might have to bite the bullet and pay for parking. But remember that's only on days that she gets the late shift. Is it every day or do they have a rota?

Also, if she's working that late, find out if there's any street parking that is only restricted during daytime hours. For example, if a bay has a three-hour limit from 8 to 6, then you can park there from 3 until late, because you're only there for three hours during the controlled period.

Or, as others have mentioned, her company may give her a staff parking pass for a different station that has service until late, so she can park and ride. For example, my TOC (not VTEC) allows staff to nominate three locations for their permit.

Working for VTEC she is lucky to have a confirmed 23:10 finish as some shifts have 01:00 (from aberdeen) and 02:30 (theatre train) finishes!

If she is on station as opposed to on board, local management may well be flexible enough to allow an earlier finish to catch the train home. Having said that, on board crews tend to be dedicated to certain runs so it may be worth once settling in to put in for a shift swap

I hope I have not misunderstood, but I am not sure this would be a good idea. Presumably she is driving from Doncaster, and Horsforth is the other side of Leeds from there, putting about a 12 mile round trip onto the journey, which depending on the time of day would put an extra hour onto her day, not to mention the additional 25 minutes train journey time there and back, with the associated addition petrol costs. All to save £15 on parking?

Not only that parking at Horsforth is very very limited, and again depending on what time she arrives there, she would be lucky to get a space, and more than likely have to try and park on nearby streets, many of which have restricted parking. I think a station Doncaster side of Leeds would be a better idea.

Just another thought........................

When the new station entrance is open onto Granary Wharf, you can park there for £6 a day undercover and staffed, and in some of the other car parks a little further away in the open from as little as £3 a day.
