That seems to leave Chorleywood with three buses a day, 5 days a week.

Which only serves a single point in the town. The last journey that I made by train required buses to and from each railhead.

Maybe so, but for the benefit of people who *don't* know Chorleywood, it's a small place (population 11,000) and pretty much all the town is within 1 mile of the station.

I would argue the recent services on the Metropolitan Line are anything but regular.

Hertfordshire have posted their September and October changes.

The September one has 2 UNO withdrawls - the Sunday 242, the 404/405 also a Sunday service. The October one has all the 2xx services operated by Chiltern Automotive being withdrawn - this is particularly interesting as Chiltern Automotive were pretty much unheard of when they took the services on and appear to be a 'one bloke and a bus' operation.

October changes now updated on the Intalink website. Shows Centrebus to take on the 2xx services again. The 242 and 404/405 pass to Arriva with 401 now operating on Sundays "to support the Sunday 242 service"

Just a quick reminder - please make sure that you include a link to your source when posting updates to service information, and quote the relevant parts from the source.

Thanks:)

Interesting that Centrebus have taken these on given they've been retreating in recent years and they closed their Stevenage depot a year or so back, which means these will have to be operated from Luton so a chunk of dead mileage.

Back in Sovereign days in the mid-late 90's the 20x routes were operated by one driver all week with one vehicle. I'm pretty sure the driver took the vehicle home some evenings instead of keep travelling back to North Mymms, wonder if Centrebus have a suitably positioned driver who will do something similar - then again may not be allowed these days with insurance etc

Given the 20x s are pretty much centred on Welwyn Gdn City, I'm surprised Sovereign did that - the 'dead' running would have been negligible - even more so when the route terminated at somewhere like Colney Heath or Essendon.

Welwyn GC - North Mymms is 7 miles, Luton (Centrebus depot, is double that).

I do wonder if the dead running is part of the reason Chiltern Automotive have handed these back.
