Noticable what major western european rail system doesn't get mentioned though. Hopefully ATOC will sign up in the future to allow through ticketing from all parts of the UK to lots of European destinations.

Well, alledgedly it is possible to buy through tickets from beyond London to mainland europe, but i've not tried it
