Chiltern have shut High Wycombe station and blocked the lines due to an ongoing incident in an adjacent building not railway related. Reports that the bomb squad are on scene -

Police officers attended an address in Amersham Hill and arrested a 19 year-old man on suspicion of possession of an explosive material for an unlawful purpose. He is currently in police custody.

"Amersham Hill outside the railway station is currently closed, so we would advise motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area

The road outside the station remains closed at 23.30. Pedestrian access to the station is currently possible. Large Police presence in the area.

I was at Marylebone and wasn't too busy - best time of day for it to happen really!

As an aside Chiltern haven't had the best week -

  • Monday there was a tree on the line somewhere around Marylebone that pretty much took out the morning peak.
  • Yesterday in the morning peak there were a lot of shortforms including the 0740 Princes Risborough-London being a 2-car 165 vs a loco hauled set. Luckily altered to stop only at High Wycome or that would have been cosy
  • Various signalling issues including last night causing 60+ minute delays around Bicester
  • The Aylesbury - Princes Risborough line has been closed due a flood (something to do with a culvert I think) . Today it was still due to be closed and the route via Amersham closed due to the TfL strike, but seems like at the very last minute it opened. But currently the service appears to have a black hole available at Aylesbury as there is an hourly service VST planned FROM Marylebone but nothing going the other way all afternoon :D

I've also been caught out twice by services starting at Aylesbury vs Aylesbury Vale Parkway in the last couple of weeks at very short notice which is a huge pain as it's impossible to fight through the many many sets of traffic lights in time to meet the train at Aylesbury

At least they haven't got the headache of fixing the plan of most of the Thursday strike day service coming in/out of Aylesbury via PRR !

An hourly service is running from Aylesbury via High Wycombe to Marylebone currently.

Yes seems like they've added them in now (though still not appearing in RTT)

Doubt many are travelling anyway with no tube once you get to London

Around 25 people left Aylesbury on the (delayed) 1123 to Marylebone and I reckon quite a few would be getting on at Wycombe and beyond.
