Holding a train for 5 hours 46 minutes for connecting passengers

On 31 Oct, the TER train at Nantes was held from 22:13 to 02:59 to wait for connecting passengers - is this a record?!

(The image shows the 6 hour delay on the TGV from Paris from which the passengers were transferred at Nantes)

My reading is that 8931 should have gone through to Le Croisic, but was terminated at Nantes. Presumably they put on a special to take the passengers on instead of taxis and buses.

Sorry this wasn’t clear. The special wasn’t a special, it was the 22:13 which was held. The 22:13 calls at additional stops compared to the TGV (eg Savenay), so I can see why it would be held but there has to be a limit of how long!

Which brings it down to 4 hours 46 minutes. I suspect that it was the stock for the 22.13 that was used for the 02.59 special and other arrangements were made for passengers for the 22.13. There is nothing in Ouest-France and I think it would have mentioned if the passengers had been held up for so long. SNCF certainly has its faults, but it isn’t Avanti or TPE or…

Interesting option, but presumably the TGV had a fair number on board for Le C.

I was waiting in Nantes for the 2213 since 9pm and the only special arrangements were some midnight meals. They did let us eat them on the train
