EMR put the train type on the top of their PDF timetables so you can look there: https://www.eastmidlandsrailway.co....ArxMKwqXwk5A/timetable_1_from_sep_2020_v3.pdf - although remember always subject to change!

Looks through Sundays look to have the most options - although some of them are from Luton rather then the airport.

Southbound times from Luton: 0835*, 1106, 1214, 1318, 1431, 1531, 1747*, 2145* (* town rather than airport parkway)

Northbound times from St Pancras: 1000, 1510, 2040* (* town rather than airport parkway)

(I've just skimmed through the above PDF - check yourself and I might have missed some)

If you can get to St Pancras for 1000, then you could return back to London St Pancras on the 1106 with just over 30 minutes at Luton Airport Parkway, giving 2 shoots at it. (Assuming you'd be wanted to go to/from London rather then Bedford)?

There don't look to be any on a Saturday, although there are some Monday to Fridays.

By chance are you/your son a Geoff Marshall viewer, I think this was recently featured on his YouTube.

Edit: You might also want to look at: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/emr-hst-diagrams.207863/

Yes my son loves Geoff Marshall. I will have a look at the time table and go from there.

Thank you heaps.

The only weekday southbound services from Luton Airport Parkway (LTN) booked as HSTs seem to be 0744 and 0803. You also have 1805 and 1928 from Luton (LUT). Northbound it’s 1005 1719 1819 1904 to LTN and 0704 2200 to LUT. As such it doesn’t appear possible to do both ways by HST originating from London.

Saturdays you have no service to or from LTN at all, two northbound services at 2130 and 2200 to LUT and nothing southbound.

As such the best suggestion seems to me to be the Sunday service – originating London the 1000 northbound service arriving at 1028 and then coming back on the 1106 arriving at 1142. Or if starting from Luton Airport Parkway the 1431 arriving 1459 and back on the 1510 (or one of the earlier southbound services if one wanted to spend a little time in London).

Have EMR gone back to a full timetable now? I figured theyd still be running a reduced COVID timetable

Almost a full timetable.

For the OP - there’s plenty of HSTs through Luton Airport Parkway, but not many stop.

Thank you guys

We got the 12.34 out of Kings Cross - Market Harborough and 14.36 back. Glad we did it before things change and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
