Hull-Rotterdam ferry bus transfers

I'm travelling as a foot passenger on the ferry next weekend (returning the following weekend) and I've bought the bus transfers at either end. The information about them is vague.

In Hull, the website states that buses leave regularly from Paragon interchange. Does anyone know what stand they use, how regularly is regularly, and how long the trip takes.

Same questions about the transfer from Rotterdam to the port - the website is even more vague about this, it doesn't even say what area of Rotterdam they leave from. Why can they not just publish a timetable?

There's also nothing about ticketing. I've paid for the buses, so will the driver just have a list of names? Or should I have been sent some pdfs, or some instructions to download tickets? It seems like it's a bit of an afterthought once they've taken the money for the transfers.

Some info on bus transfers here:

Step 2, transfer from Hull station to Hull International Ferry Terminal.

A transfer bus leaves from the bus interchange adjacent to Hull railway station at 17:30, taking 25 minutes.

You can add the transfer bus to your ferry booking or pay on the bus by contactless card. It's run by Stagecoach, route 70, latest reports say it uses bus stand 3, but always check locally. Confirm bus times with P&O.

Step 4, transfer from the ferry terminal to Rotterdam Centraal.

A P&O transfer bus will be waiting outside the terminal building at Rotterdam Europoort to take you to Rotterdam Centraal railway station. This is around 24 miles, the bus takes around 40 minutes. You must add the bus to your ferry booking.

Expect to arrive at Rotterdam Centraal around 10:15 on weekdays, 10:45 at weekends.

Step 2, transfer from Rotterdam Centraal to Rotterdam Europoort ferry terminal.

A P&O transfer bus leaves Rotterdam's Eurolines bus stop in Conradstraat (just outside Rotterdam Centraal) at 17:00 for the 24 mile 40-minute journey to the P&O Europoort ferry terminal.

After arriving at Rotterdam Centraal by train and passing through the ticket gates into the main station hall, turn immediately right and leave by the station by the side exit marked Conradstraat. Look for the last bus-stop in the row straight ahead of you.

You must add the bus to your booking when you buy your ferry tickets. Check bus details at www.poferries.com and allow plenty of time to connect, don't cut it fine. A taxi costs over €80.

I took a bus transfer from Rotterdam in September 2022, it left from a bus stop on Conradstraat by Centraal station. It wasn’t the greatest experience as the coach arrived late but when it got to the terminal checking in and going through passport control was a twaddle. I think that the driver had a list of names but I’m not entirely sure about that.

I haven’t used the coach transfer at Hull so I can’t help you with that, but haven looked at in the past it does seem like there are plenty of regular buses where you can get off at a nearby stop.

The bus boarding area at Hull Paragon interchange runs down one side of the railway station - You cannot miss it. Digital screens will show the boarding bay for your bus. Or ask a member of bus station staff.

The ferry crossings to Rotterdam operate overnight in both directions typically departing around 8pm and you need to arrive 90 minutes before departure. To allow time for border formalities the P&O shuttle connection from Paragon runs regularly (hourly) from 3pm? with the final departure at 5pm - don't miss it. The next morning onboard announcements will explain where foot passengers should gather to leave the ship and be escorted to border checks and to then board the shuttle services to Rotterdam and Antwerp.

The coach typically leaves Rotterdam port at 09:30h (Mon-Fri) and 09:45h (Sat-Sun).

The coach drop-off point in Amsterdam is Piet Heinkade 95 Coach Stop, this is a 20 minute walk from the drop off location to Amsterdam Centraal railway station.

For Rotterdam, the coach drop off point is at the bus station Conradstraat next to Rotterdam Central Station.

I have not used the bus to get to the port at Hull, but with regards to returning from Rotterdam as far as I can remember the bus will pick you up more or less where it drops you off.The driver will give you information about pick up times, but there are a number of buses and they start to run a while before the official time.As others have said, don’t miss the last one as it is quite a distance to the port. You will receive tickets for the return coach when you check in for the ferry.Hope you enjoy the trip.

When I did it (only one-way, Rotterdam to Hull), the coach from Rotterdam Centraal to the port departed from here: around Bus stop HH. Worth noting that despite a nominal arrival time of 7.30 am into Hull, it was after 8 before I was able to be off the ferry, and then the bus from the port to Hull Paragon waited another 20 minutes after the first passengers from the ferry had boarded, until it was nearly full, which meant I very nearly missed my train (9.03 from Hull Paragon). So basically 90 mins is not really enough at the Hull end.

Worth mentioning that when I went that way, on the Dutch side there were buses (coaches) for both Amsterdam and Rotterdam so check you're on the right one once you get off the boat. Think there may have been more than one bus for Amsterdam but relatively few passengers for Rotterdam so only 1 vehicle.

You can save money in Hull by simply using the frequent normal Go Ahead EYMS buses and Stagecoach buses that stop on the main road rather than going in to the ferry port. It is only five minute walk from the bus stops on the main to the ferry terminal building. The bus stop is called Myton Northern Gateway Littlefair Road as is just at the entrance road to the ferry terminal. This is what i always do when i have taken this ferry. They unfairly charge extra on the 70 just because it is a dedicated ferry bus.

Taking the dedicated Stagecoach route 70 ferry bus costs £3.50 single (no return tickets available).

You can take Go Ahead EYMS routes 72 75 78 79 X7 for £2.50 single or £4.50 return.

You can take Stagecoach routes 79 173 for £2.50 single (no return tickets available).

So that is £1.00 you save for a single. So if you are doing a return trip to the Netherlands and back then you save £2.00 total. So i think it is worth it.

Thanks for all the answers everyone. Should have thought to check seat61 first I suppose, doing the Lord's work where the actual transport providers don't bother.

And also, unlike most actual transport providers, unbelievably quick to update information when something that's out of date is pointed out!
