I wonder how long I can make my location on this f
Evening all,

The emergency services are in attendance to an incident between Guildford and Havant, apparently at Liss station. All lines are blocked - SWR have diverted my 1715 (and the 1719) service from Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh and both are running non-stop after Havant.

Anyone have any more details?

Just an update to this incident as it's a rather curious one, the individual who was struck by the train is alive and well albeit slightly bruised and battered. The police were unable to find a body and only discovered the person involved when they checked an address in a bag left at the scene..

Thinking aloud, driver believes they've hit person on the line. BTP search scene, find no person and only evidence is the bag. So line released to re-open without need for repairs and cleanup? BTP enquiries find individual.

I assume apart from the trespass, would there be any possible charge of endangering life or railway specific offences (a la Interfering with the safe operation of the Railway [or something else RoRA])

Edit to add: I hope all staff involved receive any support necessary, especially if the driver genuinely believed a one-under had happened.

No lives other than that of the tresspasser would have been in danger. A 150+ ton solid steel train is always going to win against flesh and bone. The people on board were never in any danger.

Tell that to the XC driver who had a body come through their windscreen hitting them and showering them with glass.

Just to clarify as some further information has come to light, the authorities didn't find the persons particulars in a bag, rather they themselves contacted the police after the incident. It appears to have been an attempted suicide and they changed their mind at the last minute.

Good to see they changed their mind, goes to show that there is still always some hope there and the recent Samaritans campaign is very important.

Hope the person gets the support they need and thoughts with the driver after a traumatic evening.

It's always very sad when someone gets to that poor state of mind.

I'm glad they didn't go through with it and I hope their getting the support they need, as is the driver.
