Ingatestone Crossing Keeper

Hi all,

I was just wondering whether anyone knows what sort of hours/shifts a Level Crossing keeper at Ingatestone works?

The job application says Mon - Fri, as a footnote on the application it also says weekends?

Do they follow similar shift patterns to Signallers?

I have tried searching but to no avail and I know that someone here will be able to shed some light.

Any other information would be grand. I applied for a G2 Signaller Trainee almost 6 months ago, was awaiting an assessment centre date which never materialised but Ingatestone is 15 minutes from my house. This would be a great way to start and then work my way up wouldn't it?

Thanks all.

If you’re only 15 minutes away is it possible to chat to the keeper? Quicker than waiting around on here.

(NB - If you can’t actually get there I’d not recommend applying.)

That's a great idea. Can you just walk up and knock on the door then? I'm on nights at the moment so it's not going to be today but I'll try and get there tomorrow.

I’d ask around first. Visitors are not allowed in boxes.

If you get the job, please be on the ball :)

I did my video assessments today. I felt that they went very well although got a little gibberish with the third question.

I did look up some stats and past incidents, is your reference to do with something that happened in February or just in general?

I used to be a P.E. teacher so being on the ball is natural ☺️ I'll try my best!

I wish you good luck!

Oh no incident, it's just that if those barriers aren't down and I've gone past a double yellow with the brakes in it takes all the speed out of a freight train and forever to get that speed back!
