Does this mean that the departure time from Plumstead and the time of cross-London transfer is unrestricted? As long as the departure from London Kings Cross is not until 09.06? Would any difficulties with this be expected? Especially as using a super-off peak may seem off at 8 in the morning from Plumstead or across London.

Yep, that is what is called the (informal) Network Rule, namely that on a journey with one end in the former NSE area via London and the other end not, restrictions only apply to the longer distance leg. Don't be surprised if staff question it, but they shouldn't.

Edit: it is not really a rule in itself despite the term, but it is a convention - most cross-London tickets will only carry a restriction one side of London and not the other. A very small number have one on both sides, but it's rare.

Difficulties should not be expected, and are highly unlikely to be experienced anywhere other than perhaps between Plumstead and London.

Thanks for clarifying the validity. This was what I thought but it's good to check with experienced people. I remember something in another thread about issues at London Bridge with off-peak tickets - but my intention is to take Thameslink through to St Pancras unless the timings really don't work. Too much luggage for the tube really
