Does anyone know if many IT jobs come up within the railway industry? (Mainly in the IT / network engineer category)

I saw one for IT support within the British Transport Police several months ago but not much since then

Thanks :)

You know, I have no idea. We use a mixture of contractors and in house IT engineers. Two of the contractors we use are NexusAlpha (based in Medway I think) and Delta Rail (they seem to be midlands based).
The only thing I can suggest is keep checking your local train companies, Transport for London and Network Rail careers websites. I have seen an IT job advertised on my TOCs website but I don’t know if they’d all do that. There’s no such thing as consistency in the rail industry.

The trainline often have jobs available
Network Rail always have jobs available

I was recently offered an interview at Network rail testing the trackside app (for logging faults etc) but it was a very junior role. I've applied for hundreds of jobs at network rail over the years and this was the first time they offered me an interview. They call the roles something completely different to industry standards so I would recommend trawling through them 1 by 1 as you never know what it actually is.

In the end I got the job I really wanted at mercedes, more senior, 2x free cars so I'm pretty happy anyway

Whilst checking for trainee train driver roles at Crossrail I spotted this.
