ITSO not opening barriers (code 57)

I've just got an ITSO smartcard from GWR and an anytime day single from New Eltham to Oxford.

The loading at New Eltham seemed to work, however every gate (London Bridge national rail, London Bridge underground, Paddington Elizabeth line, Paddington national rail) has rejected it with code 57.

I checked with GWR ticket office at Paddington before boarding the Oxford train who said it all looks fine and has a valid ticket so 'blamed' the underground. The mainline barrier then rejected it.

I was waved through all barriers, only at Paddington gate line did they interrogate the card and confirmed it was valid.

Anyone got any ideas why it might have been rejected so many times?

Error 57 is station not covered on a period ticket

But ITSO is national (at least within England) and issued by lots of transport operators, which initially suggests they don't have ITSO enabled gates.
But because it gave that error rather we do not understand the ticket type error, suggests they are ITSO enabled, but nobody has bothered to program them for a cross London journey.

But ITSO is national (at least within England) which suggests they either don't have ITSO enabled gates

London Bridge and Paddington, I can't imagine them not being.
