I want to make sure that everyone who is on Job Seekers Allowence is aware that the above rail card exists and that it is available to them, you have to ask your adviser for one as the DWP do not publisize it, this rail card will get you half fare when you are out job-hunting

So is that now available to all jobseekers? The previous New Deal was only available to those who had been out-of-work for more than a certain number of months.

I actually asked about this yesterday, if you're on the "Work Programme" then you can't get it, however they wern't too sure about that so I'm gonna email someone about it and ask.

The JCP railcard is also available to those who claim Employment and Support Allowance on the work related activity group who are actively seeking work.

London jobseekers are also entitled to the Bus and Tram Photocard after 12 weeks of their claim. Claimants of ESA (Work related & Support groups) and Income Support are entitled to that photocard straight away.

DWP will publicise it to claimants to whom they feel it is relevant to assist in their jobseeking activities and those who qualify (which isn't everyone). It's also valid for leisure travel rather than just seeking employment.

Well it would be a bit hard to prevent it from leisure use without preventing it from being used to get to interviews.

Prospective employer in neighbouring town phones you and asks you to come to an interview tomorrow, you agree. How would you prove that when you buy your ticket?

Is it valid in 1st Class ?
