The wash road past ferme park on the down side is where the toilets are tanked on the mk4s as well as the washer. It's not unusual for trains to go through there both to access bounds green and as part of the turn around. They can't empty the toilets at kings cross.

Today they are running them over the Harringay flyover from ferme park as the up slow and up goods are blocked.

Also, at busier times with platforms at a premium at kings cross they can need trains out of the way if they have a long turn around. FCC have had Bowes park reverse moves in the past when half of kings x has been blocked for engineering works so instead of coaches sitting in the platform for 60mins they go out to Hornsey rev roads or Bowes park to get them out of the way.
