My son arrives at Liverpool Lime Street platform 1 tonight and then he has a train to catch to Chester from platform A, 5 minutes later. Can anyone help, we can’t find where platform A on the map of Lime street station so we’re confused and worried incase he misses his connecting train.

Is it close to platform 1?

Thank you

Platform A is the underground station, accessible from the concourse via escalators and lifts.

Any member of station staff should help you locate it.

From platform 1, pass through the barriers, turn left, walk forward and on your right hand side immediately after Upper Crust you will find escalators down to Merseyrail for trains leaving platform A. 5 minutes seems a little tight - minimum connection time at Lime Street is 10 minutes.

They need to go out of the ticket gates at the front of the platform then across the concourse and down the stairs or escalator following the signs for Merseyrail services. Then they need to go back in through the ticket gates again and down more escalators. It's a long way and 5 minutes may not be enough time. Usually at least 10 minutes to change is officially required.

Though unless they're trying to get the 2343, there will be another one along 30 minutes later.
