I have been informed that weekend first has been withdrawn by LNER when I was trying to make a reservation today. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case as I can't find anything to say it has?
doesn't say it has been withdrawn, but does say it is only available on board, not in advance. If you’re travelling at the weekend, on a bank holiday or on a Super Off-Peak train, you can turn your Standard journey into a deluxe First Class one from just £25. Our First Class upgrades let you recline in our bigger, cosier seats with bags more leg room, and enjoy our complimentary food and drink service at your seat.
That's what confused me, I've just tried to make a reservation via their Twitter team as I've hit my 2 journeys a day limit and was informed that it has been withdrawn since March last year, hence my asking. :/![]()

And you can’t reserve in first without a first class ticket. As far as I know it hassn't been withdrawn but you haven't been able to book it in advance for many many years. The prices are still in BR fares if you know how to check them.

ExactlyIs it like on Great Western. You cant book or reserve in advance can only be bought on the train if space is available ?
Midweek First was a totally different offer, allbeit along the same lines as weekend first.I know this is in relation to weekends with LNER but I remember prior to boarding during the week I got emails from LNER saying that I could upgrade to first class if I wanted too (space seemed to be available as I had the email), had been instructed at time if I wanted to was show the conductor the email onboard and pay the extra? (£25)
Edit: just to add this was when I booked my singles in advance
aah got you, I have never used LNER at weekends, its rare for me! lol Tell a lie, last time I used LNER at the weekend it was when they were just branded East Coast trains - National Express at the time!Midweek First was a totally different offer, allbeit along the same lines as weekend first.
It was a good one though! £25 to upgrade and I was able to use a Super Off-Peak single (an SSU as well if I recall correctly) on the 1819 departure from Kings Cross (it was Friday) which meant the full evening meal service and booze which I thought a very fair exchangeMidweek First was a totally different offer, allbeit along the same lines as weekend first.
East Coast Trains was after NX , I have a lovely collection of different name badges from the various TOC names going all the way Back to INTERCITYaah got you, I have never used LNER at weekends, its rare for me! lol Tell a lie, last time I used LNER at the weekend it was when they were just branded East Coast trains - National Express at the time!
Was? The LNER Twitter team appear to think it still exists (not that I take everything they say as gospel by any means).Midweek First was a totally different offer, allbeit along the same lines as weekend first.
