Hi all

Sorry if this is the wrong section, and a search yielded no other discussion. Does anybody know what has led to locomotives regularly trundling up and down the Borderlands railway around the Heswall area? Each morning one has passed through, with a class 37 just before I posted this thread. Is there some WIP going on? Unusual given the time of day, I had thought?

Cheers!

The railhead treatment train goes up to Bidston and back early morning, I imagine it's that.

I am not sure it is that, today was a solo 37 and yesterday another type with a long train of flat looking cars and then a crane on the very last one.

The only thing.i can think of is there's been weekend engineering work on the West Kirby line. As the Wrexham line is the main access point for that it may be a train from there.
Other possibilities could be a network rail train or dragging the 508 stock from Birkenhead for scrap.

As above a 37 went down to Birkenhead depot to take a pair of 508s for scrapping yesterday morning.

The daily RHTT circuit has begun in recent weeks (very early AM) usually a pair of class 56s.

A few engineering trains were down there at the weekend hauled by class 66s replacing the remaining jointed track in the Up direction between Bidston and Upton.

A busy few days for the line!
