i saw the last one of these on June 10th at Chesterfield. I assume it was the same service. There was another entry for the same about an hour before that 'runs as required', likewise with the 2 ECS moves and the return trip.

Interested to know how this will get from Victoria platform 2 to Clapham junction - is there track for that?

Go from the SE platform to the dive-under at Battersea power station, then follow the connecting curve (Battersea Reversible) onto the Overground tracks between Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Road, which will bring you to the Northern side of Clapham Junction station. At Ludgate Junction, you then join the SWT lines towards Barnes.

Couldn't such a trip start from St Pancras?

No, there isn't the platform space available. Victoria is a regular base for charters and has the facilities you need to run one. In the case of the Northern Belle speed and direct routes are unimportant anyway as the ride on the train is part of the package.
