Sigh... I had my journey and ticketing all sorted in my head and now it's all gone wrong - help me please!
Friday 26th May: Long Buckby - Cross Gates (or Leeds, I could get the bus the last bit)
Saturday 27th May: Cross Gates (or Leeds) - Long Buckby AND Long Buckby - Stoke-on-Trent
Monday 29th May: Stoke-on-Trent - Long Buckby
I had two plans:
1. Split ticket period return to Cross Gates (£82 or thereabouts). LNR only return to Stoke (£24).
2. 3 out of 7 days East Midlands Rover (£99.90). Return Sheffield to Cross Gates (£17.70). I preferred this option as could use Avanti to Stoke and back and could go exploring on Friday morning.
Both of these are now broken because I've just found out there is engineering work between Derby and Chesterfield on Saturday 27th. Quickest route is via Manchester, but the split ticket involved a break at Derby and the East Midlands Rover doesn't cover that route.
I want a fast route and flexible tickets (off peak). Have I missed something? I can't see another rover that helps, they all cover the wrong bits!
Any ideas welcomed.
