Longest possible single train distance valid on oyster card.

I was having a think and was wondering what the longest possible haulage (by milage) on oyster card is on one single service without changing trains.

I was thinking either west Hampstead TL to Gatwick or Shenfield to west Drayton.

Any Ideas?

Not sure there are any direct trains between West Drayton and Shenfield, but there’s definitely Terminal 5 to Shenfield.

If you’re defining “longest” by journey time, then also consider Epping to West Ruislip or Chesham to Aldgate.

Finally, how about Elstree & Borehamwood going all the way back to Elstree & Borehamwood, via the Sutton loop. Which I know would exceed the maximum journey time!

By longest I mean by milage

Cockfosters to Cockfosters via Heathrow loop as well!

Also, the original Circle line would've allowed you to travel the entire day without changing.;)

Can you stay on the cable car when it gets to the station at either end? Almost infinite (if slow) mileage then

I don't think so, unless you buy multiple "360" tickets before starting?

( A "360" is a single return trip without getting off at the other end, aimed at sightseers. )

Does staying on an underground train which keeps its running number all day count?
This would work because in most cases you can stay on the train at Termini
Eg Met Aldgate to Chesham/Watford Uxbridge
( Not to Amersham as they often kick out the passengers so the train can go into the turnback)

For any contactless card rather than just Oyster, does anything anywhere beat Waterloo to Exeter using Tap2Go? Something like Alkmaar to Maastricht?

Surely you can’t propose any artificially long route that would exceed maximum time and get you two unresolved journey maximum fares, eg Cockfosters to Cockfosters, or staying on the old Circle, or staying on one train number, etc etc.
