What's the longest train journey you've continuously had no seat for? Pre-covid I had to stand all the way from London to Edinburgh which is about 4 hrs 30 mins.

Birmingham New St to Glasgow Central, sat on a pile of mail bags in a BG, at Christmas time back in the mid 1980s (overcowding is nothing new !)
Sounds more comfortable than the seats on offer in today's trains!

I've done similar between Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Not sure of the time, but it was a very unusual one.

Fishguard Harbour to Cardiff

Usually, these trains are empty. Except when Ireland are playing a rugby international in Cardiff the next day. I really didnt plan that journey well!

Madrid to Granada on a Talgo in 1982. (Seat double booked.) 6 hours and 10 minutes, albeit only for 491km. No sleeping on floor.

Cambridge-KGX nonstop (around an hour) back in 2010 or 2011 (can't remember) which, annoyingly, was my only ever time on a 365 which I'll never get to ride again!

Truro to Exeter St Davids on the 21st August this year, haven't had to stand for longer than that.

Camborne to Plymouth back in August 2018, stood in the bike spaces of a voyager due to the previous service being cancelled (the cancelled service being the 0900 Penzance to Paddington that use to run non stop Plymouth to Exeter, then non stop Exeter to Reading).

Truro to Exeter St Davids on the 21st August this year, haven't had to stand for longer than that.

I can't imagine that was fun going all the way to Exeter standing. I had same experience on that day (but got off at Truro), the effects of strikes cutting Cornwall off by rail and being in the summer.

Belgrade to Athens in 1990. Spent the entire journey in the corridor. With six chickens and a goat.

Sitting on the floor of a BG between Paddington and Liskeard on a Friday afternoon relief in 1986. I probably could have got a seat after Plymouth, or maybe even Exeter, but I was comfortably installed.

For me, it was probably either Trowbridge to Weymouth or Shrewsbury to Cardiff Central.
