I believe I read you can access the Virgin first class lounge with advance tickets?

I thought this wasn't allowed or am I thinking of another TOC?

You're probably thinking of East Coast, where First Class Advances alone aren't valid in the lounges without a supplement.

I'd guess British Rail used to sell Super Advance fares for that route, but Virgin Trains would have surely phased them out quite early on and replaced them with their Virgin Value fares?

Perhaps someone with knowledge of fares on the West Coast route at that time could say...?

GNER used to use the term Super Advance for several years, along with Apex etc, and as East Coast currently restrict the use of the lounge, I'd guess it's likely that GNER did, so if you remember the lounge being restricted and the ticket type Super Advance, is it possible you were thinking of GNER?

You can use First Advance tickets in a Virgin first class lounge.

However if you're booking through the East Coast website, the little pop up still says "not valid in lounges", even if it isn't an EC first advance ticket.

You're also OK in the EMT lounges, although this wasn't the case in MML days - the exception is no 1st Advances allowed in the St Pancras one after (last time I checked...) 16.00.
