Taking a trip to the Islands in a week or so - the train from Fort William is due in to Mallaig at 0953 and the ferry due to leave at 0955.

Anyone know of the ferry waits if the train is (slightly...) delayed? Curious as the ferry is listed on the RTT for Mallaig....

Probably not I’m afraid. Calmac’s online timetable for the small isles route doesn’t list a train connection for the 0955 sailings from Mallaig. And they also state that check in for foot passengers closes 20 minutes before departure.

What time does the ferry actually sail from Mallaig? 1015? (Which would suggest last check in by 0955 if it is actually twenty minutes, unless, of course, it's only ten minutes before they close the check in for foot passengers). Can someone confirm this point?

It's not that far, but doubt that Usain Bolt in his prime would have made it from the train station to the ferry terminal inside a couple of minutes with any luggage.

The Small Isles boat varies by day of the week, being timed to get back to Mallaig for an Up train (either a Glasgow or the sleeper connection).
