I successfully passed my train driver assessments the other week at Manchester and received an email from Northern saying i will be contacted by mail and email for an appointment for a medical.

I will be leaving my current job in Sept (have no choice retirement), how long do you normally wait for an appointment for the medicals?

Normally it’s quite quick, but with covid19 the medical centres have been closed.
They are reopen now but there’s a back log, so it’s just a case of when they can fit you in. I’d imagine in the next couple of weeks.

Do TOCs usually make you book an appointment and go get it done or do they boom you in etc..

Depends where they can get you booked in. Back when I did mine I had to go to central London for it even though the TOC and my depot are based in the Midlands
