Hi. I'm a new member and I've had my PTAC for over 3 years now. ( I'm a dependant with a nominee card). Whenever I travel to London I just pay what they ask me but recently I have been wondering how much I should be paying on my oyster (connected to my PTAC) once I arrive in London. I am aware I get 75% off but is that for a single fare or will that revert to 25% of a day travel card? and do I also get a discount on a bus? because I remember paying £2 on a bus once for one stop!!! and swore never to go on busses ever again!! <D and I never have.
Also my son has just turned 11, he also has a PTAC I've been reading that he needs a photocard oyster? how much will he be paying on it in the tube? I think it is free for him to go in London buses with this card?

please correct me if I'm wrong and please give me more information, maybe a number I could call? and if there are anymore things I could do with my card that I'm not aware of? :)

Thank you in advance,
Kris

I've got a PTAC though my employer and it states:

TOC has recently negotiated privilege discounts of between 67% and 90% off single journeys, using the Pay as You Go Oyster Card on the London Underground, London Overground and DLR Networks between Zones 1 and 6

Your PTAC might be the same, best to check with your the HR department who sends it to you.

thanks I will ask DH to find out for me. Although with the 67% & 90% off single journeys, what if I go around London with my 4 year old meaning it will be easier to maybe go on and off the tube more than 5x a day. will it then have a maximum cost ( just like when a normal oyster gets capped to a day travel card if you use it that much for a whole day). How much does a bus ride cost with yours then? :)
tnx

Normally a PTAC will get you 75% off the Anytime or Anytime Day fares on National Rail services (i.e. generally the most expensive public rate, such as the £308 Anytime Return from Euston to Manchester, bringing it down to £77).

On London Underground, London Overground and the DLR, you can either get discounted Single tickets, or have the discount loaded onto an Oyster. Daily caps remain the same as normal Adult Oysters though (e.g. £7.00 Off-Peak/£8.40 Peak for Zones 1-2, £7.70/£10.60 for Zones 1-4 and £8.50/£15.80 for Zones 1-6)!

No discount is given on bus or Tram services, so you'd pay the public rate of £1.40 per journey if you use Oyster (£2.40 for cash), with a daily cap of £4.40.

I might be wrong but can you get a travelcard loaded onto a Oyster card that also has a PTAC discount applied or is that not feasible?

As sometimes I take random journeys around London and tend to hit the cap quickly :(

Secondly, would it not be cheaper to just get a paper travelcard?

How does the discounted load on oyster work? Is this with the same oyster that is connected to my ptac? How much would a day travel card cost me then? And do you maybe know about the kids as well?
Tnx :)

Haven't tried it, but I'd guess that it'd have to be a public rate weekly or longer one given the restriction on bus usage with a PRIV/PTAC. Certainly all the PRIV Travelcards we sell are on paper, and TfL withdrew PRIV Day Travelcards a while ago in favour of Oyster.

The Oyster cap is slightly less than the Day Travelcard rate at present, so no...But you'd have to make something like 13 tube journeys in Zone 1 to hit the cap in the first place!

Its just sometimes I like to make journeys via different stations and only tap in and out at the beginning and ending of the journey - for example I like to do Kings Cross St Pancras to Edgware to Camden Town to Mill Hill East to Finchley Central to High Barnet to Kings Cross St Pancras - that has got be longer then the permitted journey times on Oyster?
