My son and I are hoping to visit Morocco in September, and during the course of the visit I'm hoping to travel on one of the overnight services with couchettes. As I understand it there are no longer any sleeper cars on these trains. Anyway, I was wondering if I can book for and pay for all 4 berths in the compartment, in order that the two of us can be assured of travelling alone? We've done this in France before, so we were wondering if the Moroccans allow the same type of booking. Thanks.

No idea - it's a long time since I used a sleeper in Morocco - but you might be able to find out by contacting one of the agencies suggested by Seat61 - https://www.seat61.com/train-travel-in-morocco.htm :-

... If it's mission-critical to book a specific train, or you want a couchette on the Tangier-Marrakech night train, contact one of these agencies:

Marrakech Tickets: www.marrakechtickets.co.uk - tickets for daytime trains can be emailed to you, tickets for the overnight couchette train can be collected in Marrakech or for departures from Tangier couriered to you for around £35.

Travel Link: One seat61 correspondent suggests arranging couchette tickets on this train through local travel agency Travel Link (www.travellink.ma, 83 Rue de la Liberté (next to the El Minza Hotel), Tanger, call +212 539 93 58 77 or email both [email protected] & [email protected], though reports about this agency have been mixed, see below. You can also try similar agency www.andotravel.com."

I think the Casa to Oujda and Casa to Beni Nsar overnight trains both still have sleepers. They are single sleepers, with a wash basin and a comfortable seat in each compartment as well as the single bed. I enjoyed my trip earlier this year and slept well. The only problem for me was that most of the windows were fogged so didn't give a great view during the last part of the journey after I had got up. The train that no longer has a sleeper car (as I understand it) is the Tangier to Marrakech overnight train. I made my sleeper booking online on the ONCF Voyages website, but I don't know about the couchettes.
