Well then, today was probably the most interesting railway related day of my life so far! Went on quite a large bash (well, for me anyway) and despite fine timings, short connections, breaks and other hitches, I still managed to get loads of tasks done.) The day started at home obviously, and I crawled out of bed at 0520, and was out at 0600 for the 0607 bus to town. After a walk to the station, I caught the 0650 service over to Grantham. I completed the first tak at exactly 0700, so that was obviously a good start! Unfortunately, I'd hoped to see a GC HST with buffers (one of the tasks) but that was fruitless as I didn't know the timings. So I completed a few and went back to Nottingham on the 0759. Bought a derbyshire wayfarer and went over to derby. managed to complete some more tasks there, and made my way up towards Sheffield on the 0942 (unfortunately for me it was a class 221) but this was the only train I could get to connect to my next train

Approached Dronfield, by which time it was painfully slow, and the TM announced there were reports of horses on the line, but didn't hold me back more than 10 minutes, and I made my way quickly to the booking hall at sheffield. I bought a single over to Stockport (not bad at £6.80) and boarded a rather crowded Alphaline 158. Ended up sitting in the vestibule by the toilet :(. Got off at Stockport (not got off there before) and was suprised to find my train was departing from a platform number you don't usually see: platform 0. Was the 1147 Northern service to Buxton, and it was a heap (as are most 150s) and was roasting hot!

Read RAIL magazine, got off at Buxton, met Gizmogle and had an hour to kill. Went to Subway first, and got a nice 6" tuna sub :) She then showed me all the tourists queueing at the fountain to get gallons of buxton water for free  which I didn't expect. Had a very quick look in Buxton shopping mall, not too much exciting in there. Had a look inside Buxton college that Gizzy attends (as it's a public listed building) and had about 10 mins to spare before the train back to Manchester. To my annoyance, it was the same 150 I had got there, which was too hot! Chatted to Gizzy for a few minutes before we went our seperate ways. At chapel-in-le-Frith managed to get task 48 done, so that kept me entertained for about 4 seconds. Manchester piccadilly was reached on time, and after an hour or so, Baggy turned up on 156401 whilst I was just about to have the horror of travelling all the way to Sheffield in a pacer! 142060 was my unit, and was standing room only. Luckily I got a seat after we reached Bredbury, and stayed there rather tired and bouncing up and down all the way to Yorkshire. As we were a bit late, a quick walk over to my 1727 HST to Derby, with 43052 at the front.

was about to do task 63, when someone stole the last magazine off the rack in coach A! Derby was reached (also late) and had to make a very very quick dash over to my final train, 170102 back to Nottingham. Was hot, bothered, had a headache, and to top it all off, accidentally stabbed myself in the eye with my thumb. Don't know how either.
So a very good (and tiring) day! Thanks to Gizmogle for thinking of the whole idea :D:D

Wall of text much?

Split it into shorter chunks and people will find it easier to read. Especially me as I'm way to lazy too read that lot!

EDIT: Ah ha! Read it. Sounds like you had a good day. But you didn't mention how incredibly nice I (and my hair of course) am.

Miles, you would get the same 150 - Most branchlines use one train all day, the DBY-MAT is a Sprinter all day, so I bet Buxton's the same.
Hundreds!! When I last went Buxton last year there were 2 people getting bottles of water!! It's nice water, I would like to see that fountain near the road to work, that would look nice.
Travelling on your namesake's DMU!! That's fun lol

No, considering our services (mostly) go to Blackpool, we have to have quite a few trains going up and down.

It'll be sod's law that I always get 150s on that line! Nice line though, especially when you go between chapel-en-le-frith and Dove Holes!

I can't remember where it was where you look down to the left and see some town or big village! Sorry I don't have enough knowledge of your line ;)

Haha, yeah, I guess it is nice. My Grandma lives down there. I always use to wave :p

It doesn't really seem that great when you've always lived there.

I can understand. And with the amount you go along there I can understand you'd get bored. Saw a real bin at Chapel station (or somewhere) which was one of the tasks with loads of points, and missed it cos I was too busy talking to the conductor! Just my luck!

I wanted to take a photo of you in front of the train and complete the task 'female trainspotter' but I doubt you'd have been happy

Who says there'll be one next year?

And who says that'll be a task?

Haha, nah, it was good fun. It keeps me busy when I have nothing to do.

I probably will do another one if people will be up for it :)

Oh, me not reading properly. I'm blaming Miles for too long paragraphs, or I'm to lazy to read
