I am supposed to be travelling to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Saturday 30th September

This is from Reading so normally either a GWR service to Paddington, then tube to Liverpool St & then Greater Anglia service to White Hart Lane. Or am Elizabeth Line to Liverpool St

I understand that train services will be severely limited on that day, but will the Elizabeth Line still be running & how many days before the strike does the Journey Planner get updated on nationalrail.co.uk?

If Elizabeth Line services still run, could I get all the way back to Reading? And what other options to get in & out of London from Reading exist to me on a strike day?

Elizabeth Line will be running a normal service All day.

If the service is similar to previous ASLEF strike days, GWR will run a very limited service too, but in your position I’d go Elizabeth Line.

London Overground will be on a normal service too (GA don’t run to White Hart Lane under normal circumstances, London Overground do).

Journey Planners will be updated with the Saturday 30th strike plan by this Friday.

On most other recent strike days, GWR having been running a reasonably regular service into London from Reading (and a bit beyond), but their last train back from Paddington has been, I think, at about 6.30pm. Which might require a bit of a rush from White Hart Lane (I just about made it to Paddington for the last train to Didcot, from AFC Wimbledon's ground a few weeks ago...)

But going to Reading the Liz line should be there as a fallback. Generally GWR have been updating the journey planner typically five or six days before a strike day

An early finish on Elizabeth Line services occurs at Reading when there is an RMT strike as there are no platform staff. An ASLEF strike is just drivers so the Elizabeth Line can run full hours, but GWR will, as you say, finish early.

Could this represent a problem for the OP if they are travelling to Tottenham v Liverpool on Saturday 30th September 2023, which is an early evening 17:30 K.O.?

If there aren't trains running at that time in the evening (even though I'm pretty sure there are) you can take either the 702 bus from Victoria (or several stops along the route) which runs 2/3 services per day to Reading, or get to Heathrow and take the Railair coach back to Reading.

Not for some. NR can dictate all they want but unless you are bulk cancelling and running nothing/very little (or even that) it’s not particular realistic when huge amount of amendments are required and it’s the same resource as Christmas that’s to do it. As long as NR tick a box for their favourite operators though

Getting Victoria Line to Seven Sisters and walking would be a far better idea for football on a ASLEF strike day unless you love queuing outside LO stations.

That's a fair old walk, we used to do it in the 70's but since 'discovering' White Hart Lane' we'd change trains from the Victoria line to the 'normal' railway.

Ah, I didn't realise it was anything other than a 3pm kickoff. Yes, there'll be no GWR option for getting home in that case.

As mentioned above, it seems the Elizabeth line is running OK on 30th Sep both ways from Reading to Liverpool Street.

I can then get an Overground service to White Hart Lane.

My only concern was during the last round of strikes (2nd September), the Elizabeth line services from London terminated at Maidenhead, but this was strikes by RMT & not ASLEF.

I think my other alternative is to get the RailAir link from Heathrow back to Reading.

It's all a royal pain in the arse!!

You have other routes such as taking the 702 bus (£2 single) 'the London Line' from Slough to Reading. There's 3 late evening departures that take just over an hour. These depart Slough (westbound Queensmere centre/A4 Wellington St, opposite the Tesco petrol station) at 2027, 2200 and 2300. You will probably find that these arrive in Slough later than scheduled due to London traffic.

There's also a late night M15 Megabus (to Leeds) from Victoria Coach station to Reading station North Interchange. This departs VCS @ 2330, arriving at Reading 0105.

Which is precisely what operators involved in this dispute are doing.
Displaying exactly the attitude and dismissing everyone else not in the favoured club. The very trains noted here won’t be being bid on time as there’s a rewrite from Friday PM peak to Monday start required to try and run as much as possible under strike knock on restrictions, but thanks for the usual dismissal of the worth.

Looks like I should be sorted with the Overground from White Hart Lane & then Elizabeth line from Liverpool Street or walk to Seven Sisters then tube to Paddington, then Elizabeth line to Reading.

Personally on a strike day I would be tempted to board the Elizabeth line service before it reaches Paddington. Better chance of a seat that way.

Looks like all sorted 4 getting 2 - from the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Will get Elizabeth Line 2 & from Reading-Liverpool Street then Overground 2 White Hart Lane.

One QQ: bought a ticket from Reading 2 Birnham then Burnham to White Hart Lane, an off peak day return, can I use this ticket 4 a tube journey as I might walk to Seven Sisters as White Hart Lane Overground is busy after the game.

Wouldn't have thought so. A Burnham (Bucks) to White Hart Lane Off Peak Day Return normally only allows one cross London transfer on the Underground and within the central zone 1 only.

An Off Peak Day Travelcard from Burnham (Bucks) wouldn't have been much more expensive (£1.00 more?) and would have given you the additional flexibility.

I would disagree, and say it is valid on the tube to Seven Sisters - since tickets with a maltese cross allow travel from say Paddington to Tottenham Hale when travelling for example to Stansted, I would see no reason Seven Sisters would not be a permitted interchange station.
Unfortunately, I can't find the exact list of tube stations that you can use maltese cross tickets to (it's not on the updated national rail website) I know it certainly allows travel outside of zone 1 when the route makes sense (to travel to interchanges such as Stratford or Tottenham Hale).

Edit: trying to search in a journey planner has just confused me even more: I can get a tube journey to Seven Sisters to show, but for whatever reason it will never show as a Paddington to Seven Sisters tube journey, and will show as either a Paddington to Queens Park tube journey, then a Queens Park to Euston train then a Euston to Seven Sisters tube journey, or a Paddington to King's Cross tube journey, a King's Cross to Finsbury Park train and a Finsbury Park to Seven Sisters tube journey, with all of this apparently valid with just the normal off peak day return (putting in avoid Liverpool Street)

Journey ran without any issues, Elizabeth Line was busier than normal but got seat at Liverpool St.

Was waved through at Seven Sisters, there was a queuing system after the football.

Will certainly use the Elizabeth line again, could commute from Reading to Tottenham CT Road then walk to the Strand.
