I thought there was a prevalence to avoid installing new AHBs? I see two new ones have been installed on the Bittern Line between Hoveton & Wroxham and Worstead. Believe they used to be user worked crossings.

It’s not my patch but if my understand is correct, Coltishall Lane level crossing was subject to an RAIB report

That would make sense, as the crossing was busy with unfamiliar users due to a diversion at the time of the near miss.

Link to the RAIB report here, if anyone is interested: https://www.gov.uk/raib-reports/rep...worked-level-crossing-norfolk-21-january-2021 (is there a way to do hyperlinks on a mobile phone?)
At 17:21 hrs on 21 January 2021, a passenger train narrowly avoided a collision with two cars at Coltishall Lane user worked level crossing, near Hoveton, Norfolk. Road traffic over the crossing was higher than usual as a result of drivers seeking a diversionary route for their journeys, following an earlier road traffic accident on a nearby main road.
I wonder if similar projects might occur at other user-worked crossings in similar situations? A crossing upgrade doesn't seem to have been a recommendation in the report, though I may of course have missed it.

Just been reading the report and the timeline of attempts made to upgrade the crossing would have been an excruciating read if someone had died.
