There are strikes on ScotRail on Friday & Saturdays until Christmas, but so far for the rest of the country nothing has been announced yet.

whilst never say never, unlikely to be anything national for the rest of the month (outside Scotland)

The unions have been careful to keep strikes within One pay packet.

This caught me out last Saturday, I needed to get from Glasgow to Edinburgh to catch an XC back south, fortunately, Scotrail are still running a basic service between Edinburgh and Glasgow, albeit the local stopping service from the low level platforms at Queen Street, even doubling up the 334's still resulted in a rather cosy journey.

Think there were reports about ASLEF meeting next week to plan strikes at the end of the month.

RMT are at the end of this 6-month ballot (mandate expires on the 24th) so might not get anything new until after the next ballot.

Very frustrating - Being freezing cold at home all next week is not going to be fun.

So, currently national level strikes expected on Saturday 5th November, Monday 7th November and Wednesday 9th November 2022 (and some regional level strikes as well on Sunday 6th November and Thursday 10th November 2022).

Extracts...

Industrial action for November - National level

Further industrial action dates affecting the network on a national scale have been announced:
Saturday 5 November 2022 - action by RMT union.
Monday 7 November 2022 - action by RMT union.
Wednesday 9 November 2022 - action by RMT Union.

Regional / train company-specific level

There is localised industrial action taking place on the following dates & affecting the following train companies:
Sunday 6 November 2022 - affecting Avanti West Coast services only.
Thursday 10 November 2022 - affecting London Underground services.

Anything else?

Where have you seen this announced?

Rail workers are to intensify their strike action ahead of Christmas in a pay dispute with ScotRail.

The RMT union has announced plans for a walkout on the day of Scotland's rugby international against Argentina on 19 November and on every Friday and Saturday after that until Christmas.

ASLEF are also planning to reballot, therefore I believe any more driver's strikes in England are unlikely to happen until mid-December at the earliest. I dare say some disruption on the run-up to Christmas is looking likely.

Will Elizabeth line,on GWR and out to Shenfield, wind down earlier and start later? Before and after strike days?

At a guess I'd say 24th and 27th December will be a write off. Just my personal thought, haven't any gen to confirm it.

Yes, they will only run Paddington to Abbey Wood, at a reduced frequency, after 7pm on strike days.

The Shenfield and Reading / Heathrow services end at that point, and when they are running serve the high level stations instead of running through. The frequency is much reduced.

Somehow I had missed that there's a strike on today that affects us. All of the news that I had seen mentioned only 5 November, not the 4th.

We had planned to use the return portion of LM-only off-peak tickets we already have to travel from Nuneaton to Euston in time for a West End show this evening at 19:30. I presume, given the severe disruption, there is cross-ticket acceptance in place with other operators, but I can't find this mentioned anywhere on nationalrail.co.uk or www.londonnorthwesternrailway.co.uk - They only talk about getting refunds or deferring travel, not what arrangements are in place for those that still need to travel. Are our tickets going to be accepted on other operators?

The other issue is that it seems our only option after my partner finishes work at 16:00 is to go via Leicester at 16:24 which is not even a valid route.

Yep, WMT strike today, but also affects Cross Country routes that have stock maintained at Tyseley.

That would be a surefire way of destroying any goodwill left from the general public towards these strikes. If people can't travel to see their families for Christmas, especially after what happened the last couple of years, I suspect the railway will lose a lot of leisure travelers, permanently.

Certainly after all the issues in the past year I am very seriously considering how I can reduce my current reliance on the railways. At some point something will happen that will tip me over.

Don't expect anything to change for the better until the Government rethinks its approach and there's no sign of that currently.

Allowing TOCs to enter pay negotiations would be a good start and the first step towards ending these disputes.

With Huw Merriman leading for rail lets see if he can broker more cash from DfT in exchange for progressing changes to help reduce the net deficit of supporting the industry currently with the unions. Mind i suspect they will see what the mood of the workforce is from the reballot first before making any moves.

Would the planners/rosterers have drawn up normal work schedules to fall back on in case of this type of thing happening - or is it going to be a load of frantic phone calls to see who is available at 24 hours notice?
