According to Trident the Bear on Twitter/X, the ‘local’ livery is being ditched less than 5 years after it was launched due to it’s complexity and challenging nature to repaint and match damaged panels

Less than five years after it was launched, Stagecoach is ditching the ‘Local’ livery. We understand its’ complexity meant it increased repaint ‘downtime’ and is a challenge to repaint/colour match damaged panels.

The replacement is apparently a dark blue with part of the stagecoach logo on the back. Again tweet link here
The replacement for Stagecoach local livery is overall dark blue with a part of a Stagecoach logo at the rear (looking like a ‘C on offside’) and an amber, blue, green strip on the front end. First into new colours - E400MMC 10661 and E200MMC 26087 with Stagecoach Yorkshire

Having seen it, it looks unfinished to say the least...

Absolutely, not surprised in the slightly at this. With First dropping Olympia and now Urban, Stagecoach would have wise to have learned from their rivals mistakes.

Are you saying First Olympia was a mistake or the new Stagecoach livery was a mistake?

Some might describe the 'Dark Blue' as near Black........

Are there images publicly available? I clicked on the link to the tweet but I don't see an image there (I don't have an account though).

The issues with the local scheme originally that came from the OpCos were exactly that. Difficult to apply, and a swine to keep clean and deal with accident damage. I never minded the colour pallet but the application was a recipe for disaster.

This one... Well, that very dark blue is going to be tough to keep clean.

There isn't a scroll down, this is all I'm getting (I switched to Desktop Mode to check but it looks the same in Mobile Mode too).

Could they not have made the decision a bit earlier? I mean most of the north east and south Wales fleet wear Local livery now

It’s a bit of a radical change, If Local livery was proving difficult to maintain, they could surely have amended it to reduce these issues

Coming up with a completely different livery when most opcos are probably 75% repainted now seems a bit strange

Very different. Methinks there could be a couple of tweaks that may improve it....

Use a lighter blue - something more akin to the Carlisle local livery used on the 2015 Solos (if not a smidge darker than that).

Change the big logo for a larger but silhouetted (outline) version in an appropriate colour tone, similar to what was used on special liveries in the Beachball era. It could overlap onto the windows or create the illusion of "hiding" behind them.

I Have just been reliably informed that 19075 is apparently the last Stagecoach UK bus to get the current 'old' livery

Any buses now due for paint in UK will be in the new Navy scheme

Thank goodness somebody has seen sense, what an embarrassment that white mess was!

However, I think dark grey would work better. Something similar to the West Midlands buses, but with the Stagecoach colours. The colours themselves act actually look quite good on a dark background. Either way, this is a huge improvement. I also think larger Stagecoach branding on the driver side would look better than empty space. I also assume some route branding will fill a lot of that empty space which should improve things even more.

What’s happening to the current yellow version of the livery? Are they just rolling everything into the new dark blue scheme.

Much, much better than the mess of the Local livery. This does look a little unfinished though - perhaps some horizontal lines in white or silver would work nicely?

I quite like how the logo is applied on stagecoach east's cambridge busway Fleet is applied. Includes stagecoach's logo and is modern and simple.

The new livery looks quite bare

Gather the 2 vehicles painted (10661 and 26087) are only prototypes of the new livery to see how they look 'on the road' and therefore changes may be made before the livery is confirmed and rolled out

Each time I see a new livery from Stagecoach it makes me wonder why did they change from Beachball in the first place. It looks smart, kept it’s colour well & worked on a number of different buses & coaches.

The local livery looked nice when first applied but when panels were replaced it looked awful & messy & was difficult to keep clean particularly around the exhaust area.

This new livery looks nice but very plain. After a while when the shininess wears off it will look dull & different marked like bird poo or other Road dirt will be difficult to clean off.

The other downside of a dark livery is it will not be easy to see in the dark particularly for people who have sight issues & will make the interior very hot on warm days.

Black liveries might look good on a modern bus, newly painted, shiny and clean, but it doesn’t look good on older vehicles

Blackpool Transport had a black livery, when applied to older vehicles which are then thrashed around day after day, they looked pretty shabby

The old Diamond Bus livery ‘the old duller diamond’ was dark blue and didn’t ever look great in my opinion

I agree much better than local livery. What with rebranding of First, Stagecoach and Manchester Bee Network people should invest spare cash in by Spain ethers and suppliers.

Morning all,

Stumbled across a Flickr picture of a Stagecoach E400MMC (link attached below) in what the photographer states is their new livery? It's all over black with larger than usual fleetnames and the "Google ball" logo still at the rear but smaller and complete, rather than the white livery where it was all encompassing of the bus. Have I missed something here or is it the base for a one off promotion?

I think it’s actually very dark blue. It was discussed a couple of days ago in this linked thread

I wonder if they picked blue just to be different from London or Manchester buses? It does look smart though and more easily maintainable. But that's the trouble with the wonderful liveries that Ray Stenning and others come up with that really make buses more "visible" and "desirable". If companies are not able or willing to put the effort and expense into maintaining those liveries then they become a lot less "desirable" than the bland liveries they replace.

Up in the Lake District, most of the vehicles now are in the Lakes Connection livery. But sometimes you get a local or beachball turn up. And it all feels a bit wrong. But not as wrong as something that dark is going to look in comparison to the bold green and blue of the Lakes Connection colours!

It really does feel the least Stagecoach livery they could have come up with too.
