Hi I start my first ever shift on the railway for Coyles Personel on Saturday as a PTS-trackman blue hat. I was just wondering what to expect if anyone knows? What will my first night be like? Will I be inducted onto the site or will I be expected to just know what I’m doing immediately and put to work as I have TIC on my sentinel? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum and good luck in your new role in the railway, hopefully it will be the start of a long and rewarding career for you!

As for the specifics of your question, we may not be able to answer that directly and these do seem like questions for your line manager either now or or Day 1. Also there may be differences based on location. However there are some people on the forum with track worker & operative experience who may be able to give you a generic idea.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I’m looking forward to it as a career on the railway is something I’ve been wanting for quite some time! I’ll get in touch with my line manager tomorrow then.
