I was hoping to catch 1B24 the 1648 London Paddington to Swansea, but it didn’t stop at Bristol, and it appears to have stopped first at Cardiff, although it didn’t make up much time considering the lack of stops. A) any idea why and b) when was the last time there was a south Wales train being quite so express-y?!

According to GWR Journey Check:

16:48 London Paddington to Swansea due 19:33
16:48 London Paddington to Swansea due 19:33 will no longer call at Reading, Swindon, Bristol Parkway and Newport South Wales.
It has been delayed at London Paddington and is now 35 minutes late.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

Skipped Reading, Swindon and Newport as around 30 minutes late departing from London Paddington? But was Bristol Parkway still a call, or not? Anyone confirm?

I can confirm it went through at about 40mph without stopping. Made up just under 5 minutes by Cardiff, its first stop, which is less than I’ve had 80xs make up without skipping stops.
