Looking at the northern rail website it only requires a CV to be uploaded to apply for jobs.

No cover note, why you want the job etc.

Is this normal or am I missing something.

I added a cover letter to my application. It doesn't require one, but it doesn't say you can't either.

I suspect AI recruitment bots will make applications so they have added a level of security for entry. I imagine their inbox getting flooded and they've just found an easy way to cut the noise down
