Has anyone got this product installed and if so, can they give me their views on it, please

Incidentally, a couple of years ago, I mentioned that Norton had issued a warning about Powersuite Pro 2015 and one of my sons made mention of the fact that the Powersuite Pro 2017 still carries the same warning. Of course, none of us use that product.

I've never considered Norton to be much good to be honest. I mean it'll deal with malware but I always felt that it hogged a lot of system resources doing it and it tended to generate a lot of false positives.

If you want to pay for something then I'd suggest Kaspersky personally.

There is only one antivirus worth buying and that is Malwarebytes. However for most people windows defender is just fine.

I think that my query has been misunderstood. I am not discussing the Norton anti-virus products, but a totally different type called Norton Utilities, that is supposed to look after the general internal maintenance of the computer.

I do actually use the PAID Malwarebytes Premium product for the purposes it is good for and I would recommend it over the free version for the extra benefits it offers.

Sorry my fault

My feelings remain the same on anything Norton however and they are not positive!

I'm sure I have seen a free version of this crop up before - as with anything Norton related, by general advice would be to nuke it, preferably with fire <(

The anti-Norton sentiments sound about right. Personally, since I installed Win10, I've stuck with the built-in Windows Defender. Seems to take care of me for the limited amount of time that I choose to remain on the MS side.

I'm no expert in these things, but I got rid of Kaspersky after three months because of annoying side effects. Had no trouble with Norton, before or since.

I've never had a problem with Norton, been using it since 2004.

However, I would avoid Norton Utilities as a complete waste of time. It doesn't do anything that you can't do manually.

I had a version of Norton Utilities that worked fine with Windows 7. However, it caused chaos when I upgraded to Windows 10, and I deleted it from the computer. I imagine that Norton may now have produced a version of utilities compatible with Windows 10.

If you just want to "clean" some of the internet "dross" that plants itself on your computer, I recommend the free versions of ccleaner and MooO Disc cleaner.

Bit Defender Total Security
Malwarebytes
CCleaner
SUPERAntiSpyware

Install these and just as importantly update every day and you will be as secure as possible, regarding Windows Defender it's simply not good enough.

Windows Defender and CCleaner are all you need. If you do want some extra security then AVG will do.

No need to pay for the vast majority of software. There will always be an free alternative out there.

Norton Utilities was a useful program back in the days of Windows 3.11 when there were no decent defrag or cleanup systems built into the OS, nor a decent file manager. However its become irrelevant since the release of Windows 95 OSR2, which came with a decent set of utilities.
Since then, the product has been nothing more than scareware: a product used by salesmen to get extra commission by scaring naive customers
