Hi,
I'm curious if anyone knows why the 1817 Halifax - Hull service doesn't call at Brough? Every other Halifax - Hull service stops at Brough and the 1817 calls at every other station normally served by the route. If it was early or late in the day, it would make more sense.
Interestingly, 96 trains arrive in Hull from the west each day and only 2 don't stop at Brough. The other one is the first arrival from York which is really early in the morning so more understandable.

At a guess:

Most Halifax to Hull services get in at XX:59. The 18:17 arrives at Hull at 20:06 (+7 from 'normal'). The path is usually uses is disrupted by the 1tpd London to Hull LNER service. Therefore, in order to maintain the turnaround times at Hull, it runs as close as possible to the LNER so it is more likely to be able to operate the 20:15 service back. If it stopped at Brough, it would have an additional 2/3 minutes added, which has been decided gives too little time to turnback and operate the 20:15.
