Does anybody know which FOC is responsible for transporting these casks of nuclear waste to Sellafield? This subject was always in the news at one time but you never hear about it these days. The last I heard any news concerning this was a good 10 years back when a flask hadn't been 'capped' properly resulting in a small 'hole' type spacing in which gamma radiation could escape from within the flask. I remember that it was very lucky this gamma radiation leakage occured with the flask 'sat up' so the beam was extruding from the flask towards the sky. If the flask had been on its side, then the gamma radiation would have been shooting out at ground level and whoever had been standing near the train has it went past would have received quite a nasty dose of radiation.

DRS only AFAIK. They were created from something that used to be part of BNFL or one of those companies.

They're based at Kingmoor in Carlisle and there are normally a good few locos at Sellafield. Makes a nice variety of traction at Carlisle.

They made my virgin train late 10 mins the other day by changing drivers in Carlisle station itself when they had the road on platform 4. Took another 5 mins for the new driver to leave the station and go into sidings before the Virgin could pass it :-0
