Hello, I'm new to the forum and was looking for help in identifying some old railway lamps I've recently purchased from car boots as I want to restore them.

I've done the usual and put in searches on google for the maker etc but nothing similar has come up and am interested in their history. I've attached a picture of the first one marked as being made by 'Wakefield of Birmingham' 1945 and have an arrow pointing upwards. It's in a drab green colour.

Any help or signposting appreciated.:)

Thank you

Thank you both for your replies. As you can see from the picture there's not much paint left and I want to restore it to its original colour so need to find out what military shade of green was used for these.

I know nothing about this type of lamp, is it the same that was used in civilian stations?

Would it have clipped on to a carriage as there are two clips each side that look like it attached to something?
